As an angel number, 8 symbolizes inner stability. In order to reach success, you must practice a pragmatic approach. That's where we come in! The New Creation Project 8 was created to give children a sense of hope and develop a positive mindset. With a focus on combatting mental health issues, our mission is to empower at-risk youth through the New Creation Project 8 (NCP8). We are a youth-serving organization and non-profit created to act as a resource for all children.
Meet Jennifer and Christal!
Two sisters who teamed up to support children facing adversity in Solano County and beyond.
Jennifer Goodwin - Founder
Jenn is a wife, and a mother of 3 adults, and 3 fur babies. With an entrepreneurial spirit and creative flair, she left behind a 20-year profession in Mortgage Banking And Restaurant Management. She manages New Creation Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu LLC located in Benicia, CA where her passion to start the organization began. She saw firsthand how Jiu-Jitsu changed the lives of many on and off the mat. An advocate for Mental Health, as she is lives and breathes the stigma herself. Her creativity led her to become a professional photographer where she not only captures the beauty of her clients, she showcases them in a positive light.
Christal Colipapa - CFO
Christal is also a mother of 3 adults and 3 fur babies. With an analytical mind and heart of gold, she oversees operations, develops initiatives, and strengthens both internal and external relationships. With her background, she is eager to help kids across the bay area reach their full potential.
Our mission is to impact the community and provide an outlet for children who are overlooked or left behind due to disparities, mental health, misfortunes, and circumstances. We plan to give more children the foundation to flourish and enhance their innate skills to lead better lives.
We understand the struggle and increased cost of living in California. New Creation Project 8 Inc. (NCP8) will provide the cost for classes, uniforms, equipment, transportation, etc. We want to ensure the necessary resources are easily accessible to our youth. We’re here to support you!
8 Reasons To Get Involved:
1. Kids will receive a sense of community!
2. Confidence building
3. Learn respect and self-discipline
4. They will learn how to defend themselves.
5. Increase strength and focus
6. Channel a more positive mindset
7. Develop hard work and commitment
8. Surpass personal goals
Each child will have a mentor to help guide and strengthen both their physical and mental health.
Additonally, we will provide each student with a New Gi’, Gym Bag, Wrestling Attire, or Grappling Attire.
We are looking to fundraise $15,000 to cover and/or discount memberships for all children.
Jiu-Jitsu Benefits and Mental Health
The benefits of Jiu-Jitsu act as a release of tension and stress. As the student trains, they go through a process of learning new techniques, breathwork, and develop overall confidence as they reach new goals. Overcoming fear and finding a sense of belonging allows the students to develop a stronger growth mindset.
Our mentorship program is our #1 resource to help facilitate the necessary resources for at-risk youth. One of our Mentors, Rich Goodwin can attest to not allowing himself to be a product of his environment. Rich’s story is highlighted to show perseverance and success are attainable! You can watch Rich’s Story HERE.
Girls for Grappling
This program is led by Forrest Molinari an American freestyle wrestler. She is a three-time medalist and a catalyst for women in a predominately male sport. With her help and coordination, we can assist female youth combat adversity and build confidence.
Forrest Molinari holds an annual “All Girls Wrestling Camp” at New Creation Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu LLC each Summer. She inspires young female athletes worldwide. For an athlete of her caliber to work alongside us here at New Creation Project 8, is monumental. She exudes positivity and has become a great mentor to many girls in Wrestling. We strive to maximize our resources and attribute them to helping the well-being of our youth
Rich Goodwin is not only an example of hope and change, but he is also the result of hard work and perseverance. His compelling story shared by Claudine Wong on KTVU Channel 2 News in an interview, titled “Second Chances” can be viewed on both Youtube and Facebook. Richard proclaimed Jiu-Jitsu saved his life! Few people talk about the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu and the impact it has on overall mental health. NCP8 would like to shed light on the conducive benefits for the youth in alignment with physical activity such as martial arts.
Addiction cost Richard his family and job after job leaving him homeless and living on the streets of the Tenderloin in San Francisco. In his adolescent years, wrestling was his outlet. Today, you’ll see a fighter still on the mat! This was no small fleet to get to where he is today with over 16 years of sobriety. After an overdose, he reached a turning point, and got a chance at sobriety while entering a detox facility. Fast-forward he became a counselor working at the same detox facility he was admitted to while becoming an anchor for those who wanted to change. He got another chance and he continues to pay it forward! He then became a wrestling coach at Benicia High School and now owns his gym (New Creation Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu) managed by his wife and Founder of NCP8, Jennifer Goodwin.
Claudine Wong concluded the interview by stating “second chances can be given, this life that he has built has been earned.” This is a testament to how important it is to both provide resources and help set those in need up for success. Together we can teach the youth they are not a product of their environment, they are a product of their choices
